We meet on the first sunday of each month at the gallipoli legion club, anzac day, hamilton at 10:00am other social activities are arranged each month, beaumont st., coral sea day and merchant mariners day are events we participate in each year. Almost 30 of these being located in new south wales. The naval association has grown to the largest organisation specifically representing serving and former members of the navy, and other commonwealth navies, naval reserve, with around 70 sub-sections throughout australia. In 1960 the Association's name was changed to the "Naval Association of Australia",still with it's motto "each for all and all for each". It cover's the areas of newcastle, lake macquarie, the upper hunter, maitland and port stephens. Since it's beginnings it has had several members who have been granted the diploma of merit, and life membership has been granted to four. In 1947 the now "ex-navalmens association of australia" approved the formation of sub-sections in all areas of new south wales, newcastle sub-section, through the efforts and dedication of many fine "ex-navalmen and women", from it's humble beginnings and it's many changes, so newcastle, today boasts of over 110 male and female members. Most of it's history being lost in the sands of time and the memory of yesterday. A short history of our sub-section newcastle sub-section of the naval association of australia (formally known as the ex-navalmens association) was granted it's charter on the 7th november 1925, thus making it the "first in the state" newcastle began with only a handfull of members, regularly meeting at several venues over the years, changing dates and times to suit it's members, even at one stage meeting in a member's "back shed". Newcastle sub-section is proud to be part of the naval association of australia.
